Pakistan Shoots Down 25 Indian Drones Amid Soaring Border Tensions

In a major escalation of cross-border tensions, the Pakistan Army successfully intercepted and destroyed 25 Indian drones during the night of May 7 and 8, marking one of the most serious violations of Pakistani airspace in recent years.

Addressing a high-stakes media briefing, Director General ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that India launched a series of aggressive drone intrusions using Israeli-made Herop drones targeting strategic and civilian locations across Pakistan.

“These hostile drones violated our sovereignty and posed a direct threat to national security. Our forces responded swiftly and effectively,” said the DG ISPR.

The drones were reportedly shot down near Lahore, Rawalpindi, Karachi, Attock, Bahawalpur, Chakwal, Gujranwala, Chhor, and Miano (Sindh).

  • In Lahore, a drone struck near a military installation, injuring four soldiers, one of whom is in critical condition.
  • In Miano, a civilian was killed, and another injured after a drone exploded in a residential area.

Debris of these drones, clearly marked as Israeli-origin Herop UAVs, is currently being recovered by Pakistani authorities, serving as evidence of foreign-sourced technology used in India’s covert aggression.

The DG ISPR emphasized that Pakistan’s armed forces are on high alert, and the nation’s air defense system has been fully activated to counter any further provocations. He condemned the action as a reckless and desperate move by India following its losses in the May 6/7 skirmish, where five Indian aircraft, including Rafale jets, were allegedly shot down by Pakistan.

“This is not just a violation; it’s an attempt to destabilize regional peace. The world must see India’s behavior for what it is—reckless, dangerous, and provocative,” he added.

Pakistan’s military described these attacks as desperate measures taken by India after suffering significant setbacks on the Line of Control (LoC). The ISPR claimed that India’s covert attacks were not just military failures but also a diplomatic embarrassment, further isolating New Delhi on the international stage.

The use of foreign military technology (Israeli drones) in such operations raises serious questions about third-party involvement and possible collusion between India and foreign defense lobbies against Pakistan.

The DG ISPR urged the international community and human rights organizations to take immediate notice of India’s aggressive behavior, warning that such actions could trigger unintended consequences in an already volatile region.

“India is playing with fire, and Pakistan is fully capable and ready to respond to any threat to its sovereignty,” he said sternly.

The situation remains fluid, with the Pakistani military monitoring the skies and maintaining round-the-clock aerial surveillance.
