Amid escalating tensions with India, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) today at 10 AM to assess the unfolding situation and formulate a response.
According to a statement from the Federal Minister for Information, the forum will be briefed on India’s latest missile strikes across five locations in Pakistan, including densely populated civilian areas and religious sites. The NSC will also deliberate on Pakistan’s strategic response to what it called “India’s cowardly aggression.”
Director General ISPR, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed that Indian forces targeted Kotli, Ahmadpur East (Bahawalpur), Muzaffarabad, Bagh, and Muridke in a series of coordinated nighttime attacks. The strikes included a direct hit on Subhanullah Mosque in Ahmadpur East, resulting in civilian casualties.
In response, Pakistan has shut down its airspace and suspended all flights. Aviation authorities have announced a 48-hour closure and issued a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen). Relief and rescue operations are currently underway in the affected areas.
Authorities have urged citizens to stay calm and cooperate with security forces, while the nation waits for an official stance and retaliatory strategy from the NSC meeting.
PM terms attack corwardly act
In the wake of India's recent missile strikes on multiple locations in Pakistan, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif issued a powerful and defiant statement, warning the enemy of a resolute response.
Calling the attacks "cowardly," the Prime Minister stated that the assaults on five Pakistani regions were not just an attack on Pakistan's sovereignty but also a dangerous attempt to destabilize regional peace.
"The deceitful enemy launched cowardly strikes at five locations in Pakistan," said PM Shehbaz. "Pakistan has every right to respond to this aggression imposed by India — and we are responding accordingly."
He reassured the nation that the armed forces are fully prepared and that the entire country stands united. "The morale of the people and our military is high, and every citizen is standing shoulder to shoulder with our soldiers."
PM Shehbaz vowed that the enemy’s plans will fail. "The people and armed forces of Pakistan know how to deal with enemies. We will never let them succeed in their evil intentions."
