Pakistan army foils afghan infiltration attempt, kills 71 militants

Security forces forces determined to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty against all threats

28 April 2025

Pakistan’s security forces have thwarted an infiltration attempt from Afghanistan and eliminated 71 militants over the past three days, according to a statement from the military’s media wing, ISPR.

The ISPR revealed that between April 25 and April 27, a series of targeted operations were conducted across North Waziristan District (NWD), resulting in the death of 54 militants. Building on these successes, a special clearance operation was launched late on April 27 into the early hours of April 28 in the Hassan Khel area and along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

During this meticulously planned operation, an additional 17 militants—referred to as Khawarij—were neutralised. The Pakistan Army also seized a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives from the militants' hideouts.

According to the ISPR, the eliminated terrorists were operating under the influence of foreign handlers and were actively working to destabilise Pakistan’s internal security.

With these latest results, the total number of militants killed during the three-day anti-terrorism campaign has now climbed to 71.

The ISPR reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of Pakistan’s security forces to defend the nation’s borders and ensure that every attempt to undermine Pakistan’s peace, stability, and progress is decisively crushed. "Our forces remain fully determined to safeguard Pakistan’s sovereignty against all threats and to defeat the enemies of peace," the ISPR spokesperson emphasised.
