Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Ali Khan said the recent Pakistan-Bangladesh foreign secretary-level talks were held in a highly positive and constructive environment.
During his weekly media briefing, he stated that both sides discussed some pending matters and clearly presented their viewpoints, indicating a positive trajectory in bilateral ties.
He strongly rejected fabricated reports aimed at derailing the improving relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, saying such malicious attempts will not succeed.
He added that high-level engagements in New York, Cairo, and Jeddah have injected new momentum into Pakistan-Bangladesh relations. Meanwhile, responding to the Indian External Affairs Minister’s remarks, the spokesperson condemned India’s persistent anti-Pakistan rhetoric and advised New Delhi to stop supporting terrorists instead of resorting to baseless accusations.
He reaffirmed that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognised disputed territory, and he criticised India for using every opportunity to malign Pakistan.
Regarding the recent terrorist attack on the Jaffar Express, he affirmed that investigations are ongoing and preliminary findings indicate connections between the attackers and handlers operating from Afghanistan.
Mumtaz Ali Khan further declared that Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will be travelling to Kabul in the near future to enhance bilateral relations with Afghanistan. He reiterated Pakistan's foreign policy doctrine of having good relations with all nations, referring to China as a time-tested friend and the US as a long-time partner.
Addressing the Gaza situation, the spokesman condemned fiercely the barbarism of Israel, particularly the shelling of a hospital, and referred to it as a serious abuse of human rights. He concluded by announcing that the UAE's Deputy Prime Minister will visit Pakistan from April 20 to 21.
