Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has strongly denied any backdoor deals with the establishment.

Speaking after a meeting with Khan at Adiala Jail, PTI founder’s legal counsel Faisal Chaudhry told reporters that Imran Khan stated he had not authorised anyone to speak on his behalf regarding any negotiations. “If I wanted a deal, I would’ve made one two years ago,” Khan reportedly remarked.

Chaudhry explained that while leaders like Azam Swati and Ali Amin Gandapur had sought personal permission to engage with establishment figures, this was not reflective of any official party policy.

Imran Khan reportedly stated that PTI remains a democratic party and no disciplinary actions should be taken against members for attempting personal meetings. “We only get a chance to meet once every seven days—whoever gets the chance should take it,” Khan is said to have told his legal team.

He also expressed dissatisfaction over the recent incident involving Barrister Gohar, saying such behavior was “unacceptable” and not in line with the party’s values of internal democracy and discipline.

Imran Khan was particularly vocal in condemning the denial of meetings with his family. He called it an injustice and insisted that his sisters have a legal and moral right to meet him. “They simply want to see their brother. The government needs to change its attitude,” he said.

Outside Adiala Jail, Khan’s sister Aleema Khan led a sit-in protest after being barred from meeting him. Along with her other sisters and cousin Qasim Khan, Aleema was stopped by police at the Gorakhpur checkpoint and prevented from proceeding to the jail. She exited the vehicle and sat on the pavement in protest. “If we are not allowed to meet today, we won’t leave,” she declared to the media.

“We were deceived last time and abandoned in a deserted place,” she added. “This time, we’ve made it clear—no meeting, no departure.”

Meanwhile, family members of Bushra Bibi, Khan’s wife, including Mehr-un-Nisa Ahmad, arrived at the jail for visitation. PTI lawyers Salman Safdar and Rai Salman Kharl also reached the premises, though party leaders Salman Akram Raja and Naeem Banjhotha were reportedly stopped at the checkpoint by police.

Security around Adiala Jail has been significantly ramped up, with heavy police presence and strict monitoring led by SSP Operations. Officials say the heightened security measures are meant to maintain law and order amid high-profile visits and growing political tensions.
