Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi has asked JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to clarify his remarks about the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces, saying the comments hurt the families of martyrs, wounded soldiers, and many people across the country.

Speaking at a press conference, Abbasi paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives while defending Pakistan and fighting terrorism. He said their sacrifices could not be compared with salaries or financial benefits because many soldiers leave behind grieving parents, widows, and children.

Abbasi said the armed forces belong to the entire nation and include people from all provinces and regions of Pakistan. He highlighted the sacrifices of thousands of soldiers who were killed or injured during counterterrorism operations.

The minister said Pakistan’s peace and security have been protected because of the sacrifices of martyrs and veterans. He rejected the idea that soldiers serve only for financial rewards, saying many young people join the armed forces despite knowing the risks.

Abbasi said his criticism was not a personal attack on Fazlur Rehman and that he respected him as a political and religious leader. However, he said the remarks should be clarified or withdrawn to respect the families of martyrs and promote national unity.

He urged political leaders, religious scholars, and citizens to avoid statements that could weaken the morale of security forces and called for unity against terrorism and efforts to destabilise Pakistan.

Abbasi concluded by paying tribute to martyrs, veterans, and their families, saying their sacrifices could never be measured in money.
