Why did Modi visit Israel before the attack on Iran? Severe criticism continues from international media and the Indian opposition.

Global media claims that Modi’s visit to Israel embarrassed India internationally. The timing of the Israel trip, just before the attack on Iran, has raised serious questions. Critics argue that Modi sacrificed India’s foreign policy for personal interests.

During his Israel visit, Modi reportedly assured Netanyahu of possible support against Iran. According to former adviser to the U.S. Secretary of Defense, Douglas Macgregor, American naval ships have been docking at Indian ports to unload equipment.

Retired U.S. Colonel Douglas Macgregor stated that the U.S. Navy has been using Indian ports amid rising tensions with Iran.

Modi was allegedly used as a “poster boy” in Netanyahu’s election campaign. Israeli journalist Itay Mack, writing in The Wire, described Modi as a cheap advertisement for Netanyahu’s campaign. It is claimed that Modi’s real objective was to gain access to and favor with Trump through Netanyahu.

According to critics, Modi supported Netanyahu’s election campaign in exchange for friendly relations with Trump. Modi’s visit allegedly provided political support to Israel’s controversial government, and the medal awarded to him in the Israeli parliament was described as merely symbolic.

Bloomberg reportedly described Modi’s visit to Israel before the Iran attack as suspicious and diplomatically risky. Al Jazeera claimed that India provided Israel with various forms of support regarding Gaza. On the Iran issue, Modi allegedly remained silent for political reasons.

Was Modi’s visit aimed at securing behind-the-scenes assurances for the protection of Chabahar Port? The Adani Group has investments in Israel’s Haifa Port and Iran’s Chabahar Port. Critics question whether Modi requested Israel to safeguard business interests linked to his long-time associate Gautam Adani.

According to Indian media, Chabahar Port remained safe during Israeli and American bombings. Was national dignity compromised for business interests? Did Modi remain silent over the killing of Iranian leadership for the sake of business benefits?

The Indian opposition termed the visit a failure of foreign policy and a betrayal of Iran. Congress, the Communist Party, political leaders in Kashmir, and civil society openly criticized what they called Modi’s hypocritical politics. Asaduddin Owaisi questioned whether Modi had prior knowledge of a possible attack.

Sonia Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh described the visit as a departure from India’s traditional foreign policy. Public skepticism and criticism have also increased within the country. Protests against Modi’s political decisions continue in various regions, including Kashmir.

Critics claim that governance has collapsed in Kashmir, that Modi benefited from Iran and then turned away, and that India has proven itself to be an unreliable ally.
