The government has formally written to the United Kingdom, urging it to take strict action against individuals using British soil to promote terrorism, violence, and instability in Pakistan.
The move comes amid rising concerns over content circulating on social media platforms linked to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
According to the official letter sent to the UK Home Office, certain videos on PTI-affiliated accounts are openly inciting violence and even calling for the assassination of Pakistan’s Army Chief. The government emphasized that such content is not political commentary but a direct provocation against a high-ranking military official of a United Nations member state.
The letter further highlights a continuous pattern of hate speech and violent calls from PTI-linked platforms, demanding that the UK identify and investigate those responsible and take legal action against them. Pakistan has urged the British authorities to ensure that their territory is not used to foment unrest, terrorism, or insecurity in the country.
“PTI and its affiliated platforms are spreading violence, hatred, and large-scale instability in Pakistan,” the letter stated. It also called for decisive legal and administrative measures, including potential restrictions on PTI, to curb the online incitement and maintain public order.
The government warned that any inaction could affect mutual trust and cooperation between the two countries. “UK’s silence will not be considered neutrality; it will have serious implications for bilateral relations,” the letter added. Pakistan reiterated the importance of its relationship with the United Kingdom and expressed hope for a swift and lawful resolution of the matter.
