In a shocking incident in Bajaur’s Salarzai tehsil, a polio vaccination team came under a deadly attack in the Tangi area, claiming the lives of a police officer and a civilian.

The martyred officer, identified as Sajjad, was part of the security detail assigned to protect the anti-polio campaign.

DPO Waqas Rafiq confirmed the attack and said a large contingent of personnel has been dispatched to the area. “Raids are underway to arrest the suspects involved in this heinous act,” he stated.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the Bajaur polio team attack, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of life. The premier offered prayers for the forgiveness of the martyrs and for patience and strength for their grieving families. He also prayed for the swift recovery of the injured civilian and directed authorities to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

Highlighting the importance of the ongoing vaccination drive, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed that Pakistan’s campaign to eradicate polio will continue with full vigour despite such attacks. “The attack on personnel engaged in polio eradication work is deeply regrettable, but it will not deter our mission,” the prime minister said.
