Pakistan Navy has once again demonstrated its strong war-fighting capability and high level of combat readiness by conducting live weapon firing drills in the North Arabian Sea, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The live weapon firing exercise, held on Sunday, involved a Pakistan Navy ship successfully engaging fast-moving and highly manoeuvrable aerial targets using the FM-90(N) ER Surface-to-Air Missile. The exercise showcased the Navy’s ability to respond effectively to aerial threats in a challenging maritime environment.
Commander Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Abdul Munib, observed the firing exercise at sea while onboard a Pakistan Navy Fleet unit. He praised the officers and sailors for their professionalism, dedication, and operational excellence. The naval commander reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s firm commitment to defending the country’s maritime borders and safeguarding national interests at sea under all circumstances.
Like other branches of Pakistan’s armed forces, the Pakistan Navy regularly conducts live-fire drills to enhance operational preparedness and strengthen defence capabilities. Just last month, the Navy successfully carried out a test flight of an indigenously developed ship-launched anti-ship ballistic missile.
The advanced missile system is capable of accurately engaging both sea and land targets. It features modern guidance technology and enhanced manoeuvrability, allowing it to perform effectively in complex and dynamic operational environments.
Earlier, on September 30, the Pakistan Army also conducted a successful training launch of the newly inducted indigenously developed Fatah-4 ground-launched cruise missile, with a range of 750 kilometres. Equipped with advanced avionics and state-of-the-art navigation systems, the missile is designed to evade enemy missile defence systems through terrain-hugging capabilities while striking targets with high precision.
