Pakistan Army focused on tackling both internal and external challenges: Field Marshal Asim Munir

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS), visited the Gujranwala and Sialkot Garrisons to assess Pakistan Army operational readiness, reaffirming the military’s strong focus on modern warfare and national security priorities.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the visit took place on December 13, where the Field Marshal was briefed in detail on the formations’ operational preparedness and ongoing initiatives designed to enhance combat effectiveness. Senior commanders presented updates on training standards, force readiness, and measures being taken to counter evolving security challenges.

During the visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir observed a comprehensive field training exercise along with an advanced simulator-based training facility. He appreciated the high professional standards of the troops and praised the successful integration of modern training tools that align with contemporary battlefield requirements. The army chief noted that such initiatives play a crucial role in strengthening Pakistan Army operational readiness in an era of rapidly changing threats.

Highlighting the shifting nature of warfare, the Field Marshal stressed that modern conflicts demand agility, precision, and swift decision-making. He emphasized that technological adaptability and situational awareness are essential for effectively countering emerging and hybrid threats.

While interacting with officers and soldiers, Field Marshal Asim Munir commended their high morale, discipline, and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country. He underlined the importance of continuous, mission-oriented training to maintain operational excellence across all formations, ensuring the Army remains prepared for any contingency.

The COAS also reiterated that the Pakistan Army remains fully focused on tackling both internal and external challenges. He specifically pointed to hostile hybrid campaigns, extremist ideologies, and divisive elements as key threats that require constant vigilance and a proactive response.

Earlier, upon his arrival in Gujranwala, Field Marshal Asim Munir was received by the Gujranwala Corps Commander. The visit once again underscored the Army’s emphasis on preparedness, professionalism, and its unwavering resolve to protect Pakistan’s security interests.
