In a decisive move reflecting the strength of accountability within the military, former DG ISI, Lieutenant General (Retd) Faiz Hameed, has been sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment.

The verdict, announced on December 11, 2025, marks a significant moment in Pakistan’s ongoing effort to ensure justice prevails over political influence and misuse of authority.

Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar praised the verdict, calling it a clear example of the military’s robust self-accountability system. "The decision against Faiz Hameed, who also served as a political advisor to PTI, is a victory for truth and justice," he said. Tarar emphasized that the former DG was provided a full opportunity to defend himself, present evidence, and summon witnesses during the trial.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Faiz Hameed was found guilty on four major charges, including involvement in political activities, violation of the Official Secrets Act, misuse of authority and government resources, and causing harm to others through wrongful actions.

The ISPR statement further noted that after a thorough legal process, all charges were proven against him, culminating in the 14-year sentence. Minister Tarar highlighted that legal action is always taken against those who cross the "red line," adding that further investigations into political matters related to the case are ongoing.

"This case demonstrates that in Pakistan, no one is above the law," Tarar said, reaffirming the military's commitment to transparency and accountability. He described the trial as comprehensive and evidence-based, reinforcing public confidence in the justice system.
