Islamabad local government elections set for February 15

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has officially released the schedule for the Islamabad local government elections.

According to the commission, polling will take place on February 15, with voting scheduled from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm across the federal capital.

The ECP spokesperson confirmed that Returning Officers will display the public notice for nomination papers on December 19, marking the first formal step in the election process. As per the schedule, candidates can submit their nomination papers from December 22 to December 27.

Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted between December 30 and January 3, 2026, ensuring all candidates meet the necessary criteria. For those wishing to challenge decisions of the returning officers, the election tribunals will accept appeals from January 5 to January 8, while all appeals will be decided between January 9 and January 13.

The last date for withdrawing nomination papers is January 15, 2026. Soon after, the ECP will display the final list of candidates on January 16, the same day election symbols will be allotted.

With the official schedule now in place, political activity in the capital is expected to gain momentum. The Islamabad local government elections are being closely watched, as they will shape grassroots governance and local decision-making in the city.

According to the ECP, polling will be held on February 15, followed by the compilation of results from February 16 to February 19.
