Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has accepted a government proposal to form a special committee to review the jail facilities provided to its founder and former Prime Minister, Imran Khan.
According to sources, Federal Minister Rana Sanaullah had extended the formal offer to PTI, which has now been accepted by the party leadership. The decision comes after a joint parliamentary party meeting, where the majority of PTI members voiced their support for the move.
Under the agreement, the committee will include PTI lawyers, senators, and members of the National Assembly. PTI representatives and legal experts will accompany the committee to inspect the jail facilities firsthand, ensuring transparency and clarity about the conditions provided to their party leader.
PTI sources emphasized that their key concern is to clearly see what facilities are being made available to Imran Khan while he is in custody. The party has stressed the importance of firsthand verification and active participation in the committee’s work.
Rana Sanaullah will lead the committee, coordinating closely with PTI representatives. This initiative marks a rare collaborative effort between the government and PTI on matters concerning the welfare of a detained political leader.
