Major relief for students: Punjab board matric exams dates changed

In a student-friendly move, the Punjab government has decided to reschedule matriculation and intermediate board exams to take place after the month of Ramadan.

The announcement aims to give students additional preparation time and reduce exam-related stress during the holy month.

Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat shared the decision in Lahore on Wednesday, emphasizing that the change was made purely for the convenience of students across the province. “We understand the challenges faced by hundreds of thousands of students who otherwise would have to juggle exam preparations with fasting and religious commitments,” he said.

The minister highlighted that prioritizing student comfort and well-being remains a top focus for the provincial education department. He added that the revised schedule will allow students to concentrate on their studies while observing Ramadan without unnecessary pressure.

Previously, the Punjab education department had announced that matric exams were to begin on March 3, 2026, while intermediate exams were scheduled for May 5. However, with the new board exams schedule after Ramadan, fresh dates will soon be announced. Education boards across Punjab have already been instructed to adjust their timelines accordingly.
