Election activities in NA-18 Haripur have reached their peak as the constituency heads into today’s crucial by-election.
To ensure a peaceful polling process, the district administration has tightened security measures and imposed Section 144 across the city, banning the display of weapons.
Deputy Commissioner Haripur Waseem Khan said that no individual is allowed to carry weapons openly, and strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the order.
The DC confirmed that all preparations for the by-election have been completed, and the administration is taking every possible step to maintain law and order. He added that protecting the lives and property of citizens is the administration’s top priority.
All assistant commissioners are present in the field to supervise election duties, while the DC has urged the public to fully cooperate with the police, district administration, and election staff.
The NA-18 Haripur seat fell vacant after the disqualification of Omar Ayub. Now, a tough electoral contest is expected today between PTI-backed candidate Sehrnaz Ayub (wife of Omar Ayub) and PML-N’s candidate Babar Nawaz Khan.
The NA-18 constituency comprises three tehsils. For polling, 602 stations and over 1,900 booths have been established. The district administration has declared 40 polling stations as highly sensitive and 100 as sensitive.
A total of 753,954 registered voters will cast their ballots today, while police and other security agencies remain on high alert to ensure a smooth and secure election process.
