Ahead of the Haripur by-election, the District Monitoring Officer (DMO) took action over a violation of the election code of conduct and issued a notice to candidate Murtaza Javed Abbasi. In response, Abbasi appeared before the DMO Haripur today to present his clarification.
After hearing his stance, the District Monitoring Officer imposed a fine of Rs. 40,000 on him and directed that the amount be deposited into the government treasury by November 27, along with submission of the payment receipt.
Murtaza Javed Abbasi was accused of using inappropriate language during a public gathering held as part of the election campaign for the PML-N candidate.
It is worth mentioning that by-elections in seven National Assembly and seven Provincial Assembly constituencies will be held tomorrow.
Voting will take place in National Assembly constituencies NA-18 Haripur, NA-129 Lahore, NA-143 Sargodha, NA-185 D.G. Khan, NA-96 Faisalabad, and NA-104 Faisalabad.

Similarly, polling for Provincial Assembly constituencies PP-98, PP-115, PP-116, PP-73 Sargodha, PP-87 Mianwali, PP-203 Sahiwal, and PP-269 Muzaffargarh will also be conducted tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has issued a code of conduct for the Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces deployed on election duty.
According to the guidelines, the police will act as the first responder, Civil Armed Forces as the second, and the Pakistan Army as the third responder. The army will be stationed outside highly sensitive polling stations.
Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces personnel will also be on security duty at the printing press during the printing of ballot papers. Additionally, they will provide security during the transportation of ballot papers and other election materials.
