Cloudflare Outage Disrupts Major Websites, Including X

Cloudflare faced a major disruption on Tuesday, causing downtime on several popular websites — including X — according to updates posted on the official Cloudflare Status page.

The company, which plays a critical role in global internet infrastructure, protects websites from cyberattacks and ensures stable performance during high traffic. However, users across the world were met with internal server error alerts, advising them to retry after a few minutes.

Cloudflare acknowledged the issue, stating, “Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which potentially impacts multiple customers: Widespread 500 errors, Cloudflare Dashboard and API also failing.”

The company added that its teams were working to assess the full impact and resolve the problem as quickly as possible.

In a later update, Cloudflare shared positive signs of recovery: “We are seeing services recover, but customers may continue to observe higher-than-normal error rates as we continue remediation efforts.”

Before that, the company reported ongoing internal service degradation, warning that several features could experience intermittent disruptions while restoration efforts were underway.

Even Down Detector — a tracking platform commonly used to check website outages — suffered technical issues during the incident.

The outage also impacted thousands of users on X, who were unable to access the platform.

Cybersecurity watchdog NetBlocks confirmed the global nature of the disruption, clarifying that the incident was not related to any government-level internet shutdown or filtering.
