Sophie Grégoire has spoken candidly about life in the public eye following her separation from former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Appearing on the podcast Arlene is Alone, she addressed the attention surrounding Trudeau’s reported relationship with singer Katy Perry.

Host Arlene Dickinson praised Grégoire for staying calm amid intense public scrutiny, to which she responded with honesty and grace.

“We’re human beings and things affect us that’s normal,” she said. “But how we respond is our choice. I try to focus on the music, not the noise.”

Grégoire and Trudeau, who share three children Xavier, Ella-Grace, and Hadrien announced their separation in August 2023 after nearly two decades of marriage.

While public speculation continues, Grégoire emphasized the importance of emotional awareness and self-growth.

She acknowledged that public conversations can be triggering but believes in choosing one’s response with intention.

She also clarified that she is not a “single mom,” highlighting Trudeau’s continued involvement as a loving, present father.

Grégoire’s reflections underscore a compassionate message: it’s okay to feel hurt, anger, or sadness, but ultimately, healing and growth come from how one chooses to move forward.
