When AI revives childhood magic: The enchanting return of Ainak Wala Jinn

For every Pakistani millennial, the words “Ainak Wala Jinn aa gaya!” don’t just echo a TV catchphrase — they awaken a flood of childhood memories.

The laughter of Zakoota Jinn, the mischief of Hamoon Jadugar, the elegance of Bill Batori, and the charm of Nastoor Jinn — these weren’t just characters; they were companions of a generation that grew up believing in magic, imagination, and kindness.

Today, decades later, that same magic is finding a new life — not through reruns, but through artificial intelligence.

Thanks to the creative duo Javeria Rasheed and Hashim Naveed, the husband-and-wife team behind Reelwind, the beloved world of Ainak Wala Jinn has been lovingly reimagined for a new era.

Using AI animation, they’ve rebuilt the universe of jinns and wizards that once lit up Pakistan’s state television screens — this time for the children of Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

“We didn’t want to just recreate faces — we wanted to rekindle emotions,” says Javeria. “These characters live in people’s hearts. Every eyebrow, every voice, every laugh had to feel real.”

With careful attention to detail, they digitally revived Nastoor’s famous look, Zakoota’s energy, and the world that once inspired endless wonder.

What makes their effort so moving is not just the technology, but the human connection it rekindles. “People write to us saying they’re watching it with their parents and grandparents,” Hashim shares. “Three generations — united by one story. That’s the real magic.”

With the official blessing of the state broadcaster and appreciation from the show’s original director, the AI version stands as both a tribute and a bridge — connecting past and present, analog hearts and digital minds.

In an age where technology often feels cold and distant, Ainak Wala Jinn’s return reminds us that even the most advanced tools can serve something deeply human: nostalgia, memory, and shared joy.

AI may be reshaping our future — but in the right hands, it can also help us revisit the innocence of our past.
