A young cricket fan landed in trouble after sneaking into the players’ dressing room during the ongoing Pakistan-South Africa Test Match in Lahore, police confirmed on Thursday.

According to officials, the boy—an ardent admirer of Pakistan captain Babar Azam—somehow slipped past multiple layers of security and reached the team’s dressing area. His only goal, police said, was to take a selfie with his favorite cricketer.

However, the seemingly innocent act quickly turned serious. The youth was taken into custody on the spot, and a formal case was registered at the local police station. Authorities stated that the charges include entering a prohibited area and interfering in government affairs.

Police sources added that an investigation is underway to determine how the fan managed to gain unauthorized access to such a high-security zone. “The boy entered a restricted area without permission. A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing,” a police spokesperson confirmed.

The incident has raised questions about the event’s overall security arrangements, especially considering the international importance of the Pakistan-South Africa Test Match in Lahore. Officials described the event as a “serious lapse” that could have led to a major safety concern for players and staff.

In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has ordered an immediate review of its dressing room security. According to PCB sources, a protective fence will soon be installed between the spectators’ enclosure and the dressing area to prevent similar breaches.

While the fan’s intentions appeared harmless, the PCB emphasized that such incidents cannot be taken lightly. “The PCB takes this matter very seriously. Security protocols will be reviewed and strengthened to ensure such incidents do not happen again,” a board official stated.
