Gold prices in Pakistan hit record high amid global rally

Gold prices in Pakistan continued their upward streak on Wednesday, touching a record high as international rates surged to historic levels.

The domestic market witnessed a sharp rise, with investors closely watching both global trends and positive economic signals from the IMF deal.

According to the All-Pakistan Sarafa Association, the price of gold in Pakistan jumped by Rs5,800 per tola, reaching an all-time high of Rs440,900. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold rose by Rs4,972, climbing to Rs378,000 in the local market.

In the international market, the precious metal also reached new heights, trading at $4,198 per ounce after gaining $58. This global rally has pushed the price of gold in Pakistan to historic levels for the second consecutive day.

A day earlier, the per tola price of gold had already surged by Rs6,900 to Rs435,100, while 10 grams jumped by Rs5,916 to Rs373,028. With the latest increase, investors and jewellers expect the momentum to continue if global demand remains strong.

While the gold market is breaking records, the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) is also witnessing a wave of optimism. Following the staff-level agreement between Pakistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for a $1.2 billion tranche, investor confidence has soared.

In early trading, the KSE-100 index climbed 1,666.48 points to reach 167,142.50 points, compared to Tuesday’s close at 165,476.02. Analysts believe the IMF’s positive outlook on Pakistan’s economy has played a key role in triggering the stock market rally.

On Tuesday, the benchmark index had already made a strong comeback, gaining over 7,000 points — a 4.44 percent increase — marking one of the biggest single-day jumps in recent months. A total of over 1.17 billion shares changed hands during the session, reflecting renewed market confidence.
