Pakistan advanced to the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025 after a hard-fought victory against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the 10th group match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
The thrilling Pakistan vs UAE Asia Cup clash ended with the Green Shirts eliminating the hosts from the tournament.
Batting first, Pakistan posted 146/9 in their 20 overs. The innings began poorly as Junaid Siddique removed openers Saim Ayub (0) and Sahibzada Farhan (5) within the first two overs, leaving Pakistan struggling at 9/2.
Captain Salman Ali Agha and veteran Fakhar Zaman steadied the innings with a 61-run partnership for the third wicket. Agha scored a cautious 20 off 27 balls before falling to Dhruv Prashar, while Fakhar stood tall with a brilliant 50 off 36 deliveries, decorated with two fours and three sixes.
Pakistan stumbled again, slipping to 110/7, but wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris (18) and Shaheen Shah Afridi’s late cameo lifted the total. Shaheen hammered three fours and two sixes in his unbeaten 29 off just 14 balls, pushing Pakistan to a competitive 146.
