The much-talked-about Urdu-language reality dating show Lazawaal Ishq, hosted by Ayesha Omar, has been surrounded by speculation about whether it would air on television.
On Tuesday, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) clarified that the program will not be broadcast on any licensed TV channel in Pakistan, stressing that the show is limited to online platforms.
In its statement, Pemra noted that it had received multiple public complaints after the show’s promo went viral on social media, but reassured audiences that Lazawaal Ishq is purely a digital production.
Earlier, Ayesha Omar had confirmed that the show would premiere exclusively on YouTube, calling it “a first of its kind for Pakistani and Urdu-speaking viewers worldwide.”
Adapted from the globally popular Turkish format Aşk Adası, Lazawaal Ishq aims to introduce South Asian audiences to a unique, love-centered reality concept.
Across 100 episodes, four men and four women will live together in a grand villa, their interactions, emotions, and challenges unfolding on screen.
The journey will ultimately crown one “winning couple,” chosen through resilience, bonding, and audience connection.
Speaking about her role, Ayesha Omar expressed gratitude for being chosen as the host, saying she hopes to create a bridge between the format and its viewers:
“It’s a show about emotions, relationships, and human bonds. There’ll be laughter, struggles, and love — because that’s life itself.”
With sweeping visuals of the Bosphorus and glimpses of the luxurious villa, the show’s teaser has already stirred curiosity.
While inspired by its Turkish counterpart, the Urdu version promises to reflect local sensibilities, offering audiences a chance to see relationships unfold in ways that transcend borders and cultures.
At its heart, Lazawaal Ishq isn’t just a competition — it’s a human story about connection, resilience, and the timeless search for love.
