Pakistan on Friday strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrikes on Qatar, describing them as a blatant violation of international law, the UN Charter, and Qatar’s sovereignty. The Foreign Office said this reckless act posed a grave threat to regional peace and security and called on the Muslim world to unite in response.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan told reporters during his weekly press briefing that Pakistan condemns Israeli aggression in the strongest terms and stands shoulder to shoulder with its “brotherly Islamic country” Qatar. He said Israel’s actions were provocative, unlawful, and aimed at destabilizing the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who undertook an official visit to Doha on September 9, personally conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with Qatar’s leadership. During his meeting with Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the premier expressed condolences over the loss of innocent lives and reaffirmed Pakistan’s full support for Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“The prime minister underscored that Muslim unity is essential to stop Israel’s provocations and protect regional stability,” Khan added.

Pakistan pushes diplomatic response
At Qatar’s request, Pakistan initiated an emergency session of the UN Security Council, backed by Algeria and Somalia, to discuss the situation. Addressing the UNSC, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Ambassador Asim Iftikhar warned that the attack was a deliberate attempt to derail peace efforts and prolong civilian suffering.
He stressed that Israel’s actions in Qatar were part of a broader pattern of regional aggression that included Gaza, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, and Yemen.
Netanyahu’s remarks and Pakistan’s reply
Commenting on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s controversial remarks comparing Israel’s actions in Qatar to the U.S. killing of Osama bin Laden in Pakistan, the Foreign Office said Pakistan would not legitimize such rhetoric. Instead, Khan urged Muslim nations to close ranks and counter Israel’s provocations collectively.

Other diplomatic engagements
The spokesperson also highlighted a busy week of diplomacy for Pakistan. Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu visited Islamabad and signed a cooperation plan to expand trade, technology, and defense ties. Meanwhile, Türkiye’s Defence Minister Yasar Güler led a delegation to the 16th Pakistan-Türkiye Joint Ministerial Commission, strengthening bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors.
Additionally, Pakistan assumed chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation’s Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (SCO-RATS) on September 10, pledging to lead joint regional efforts against terrorism, cyber threats, and terror financing.
Khan also condemned India’s continued detention of Kashmiri leader Shabbir Ahmed Shah despite his deteriorating health and criticized the arbitrary takeover of schools run by Falah-e-Aam Trust in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing solidarity with Nepal, he offered condolences over recent tragic losses of life in the country.
The Foreign Office reiterated that Pakistan condemns Israeli aggression as a direct threat to international peace and urged the global community to hold Israel accountable for its actions. “This reckless act cannot go unchecked. The Muslim Ummah must stand united against such provocations,” Khan concluded.
