The Punjab government has taken a groundbreaking step in disaster management by introducing Pakistan’s first emergency airlift drone service, aimed at rescuing people trapped during floods and other natural disasters.
The innovative drone, capable of safely transporting individuals weighing up to 200 kilograms, is designed to ensure swift and effective evacuation to safe locations, significantly enhancing the speed and efficiency of rescue operations.
The Home Secretary has ordered the immediate deployment of the drone to Multan, where rising floodwaters have left many residents stranded.
Prior successful test flights in Lahore confirmed that the technology is fully operational and ready for emergency use.
To further strengthen disaster response, the government has committed to acquiring ten additional drones for Civil Defense teams across the province.
Civil Defense personnel and volunteers, praised as “frontline soldiers” in the fight against natural disasters, will also benefit from the establishment of the Punjab Civil Defense Resilience Corps.
This modernized force will provide advanced training, equipment, and the opportunity for citizens to volunteer online.
Over 4,000 people have already registered to support flood relief efforts, demonstrating the spirit of unity and humanitarian commitment in Punjab.
With the integration of cutting-edge technology like airlift drones, the province is setting new standards in disaster response, ensuring that timely, life-saving aid reaches those in greatest need.
