The NDMA flood disaster report further highlighted extensive damage to property and livestock. Nearly 6,180 animals perished, and around 7,848 homes were partially or completely destroyed, leaving thousands of families displaced and struggling to rebuild their lives.
In its latest weather alert, NDMA has warned of more thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds in parts of South Punjab, including Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Ahmedpur, Liaqatpur, Zahir Pir, Rajanpur, Khanpur, Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad. The authority cautioned that the next 24 to 48 hours may bring flash floods in hilly streams and the risk of landslides in vulnerable regions.
Authorities have urged residents of low-lying areas to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel, and stay away from trees or unsafe structures during storms. Emergency teams remain on high alert as rescue and relief operations continue across the flood-affected regions.
