Asia Cup 2025: Bangladesh announces 16-member squad, four wicketkeepers included

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially unveiled its 16-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025, which is set to begin on September 9 (Tuesday).

The announcement has sparked excitement among fans, especially after Bangladesh’s recent 2-1 series triumph against Pakistan at home.

One of the most notable inclusions in the Bangladesh Asia Cup squad is wicketkeeper-batter Qazi Nurul Hasan, who makes his return after nearly three years away from the national setup. His comeback adds depth to Bangladesh’s wicketkeeping options, as the selectors have gone with an unusual move—picking four wicketkeepers in total. Litton Das, Jaker Ali, Nurul Hasan Sohan, and Parvez Hossain Emon will all compete for the gloves in the upcoming tournament.

To maintain squad flexibility, Bangladesh has leaned heavily on all-round talent. Saif Hassan, Shamim Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, and Shaif Uddin have all been chosen, highlighting the Tigers’ strategy of strengthening both batting depth and bowling variety.

The pace attack looks strong with Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, and Tanzim Hasan Sakib leading the charge. Their presence ensures Bangladesh carries plenty of firepower into the tournament’s high-pressure matches.

Bangladesh will kick off their Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong on September 11 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
