Bajaur under complete curfew as Operation Sarbakaf resumes, four terrorist hideouts destroyed and 300 militants present in the area

Over 300 militants in the area as security forces launch renewed offensive after failed peace talks

12 August 2025

A complete curfew has been imposed in Bajaur from 11am today until 11am on August 14 as security forces resumed Operation Sarbakaf, targeting over 300 militants reportedly present in the district. According to security sources, four terrorist hideouts have already been destroyed in the renewed offensive.

The operation is a continuation of Operation Sarbakaf, initially launched on July 29 but postponed a day later following peace talks between the Bajaur Amn Jirga and local militant commanders. Both sides had agreed to a ceasefire, hoping to resolve the conflict through dialogue. However, negotiations collapsed, prompting the government to resume military action.

The curfew spans multiple areas including Laghari, Guati, Ghanam Shah, Bad Siya, Kamar, Amanta, Zagai, Gut, Gunde, Gadigal, Niag Kali, Rigi, Daag, Damadola, Sultan Beg, Chautra, Shenkot, Gang, Jeewar, Inam Khoro, Chengai, Anga, Safri, Bar Gatki, Kharki, Shukro, and Bakro, as reported by Dawn.

Civilians have been relocated to safe zones, while hospitals remain on high alert. Government schools have been converted into temporary shelters for travelers stranded due to the curfew.

Security officials emphasize that the curfew and operation are necessary to ensure public safety and prevent militant retaliation during the anti-terror push.
