Bollywood blockbuster movie Saiyaara writer Sankalp Sadanah shared the unique journey behind the film’s emotional climax. Despite locking most of the screenplay early, the ending remained elusive for a long time.
The romantic drama, which has set new box office records, had gone through multiple script revisions. Sankalp explained that while the story was almost complete, the climax was still unresolved. “We had the entire screenplay ready, except the ending. We kept thinking about it with director Mohit Suri,” Sankalp said.
Interestingly, artificial intelligence unexpectedly played a small role during their brainstorming. Sankalp’s assistant, Chetan Naidu, jokingly asked ChatGPT how Mohit Suri might end the film. The AI suggested a tragic twist: “The hero and heroine should both die.”

This AI suggestion wasn’t far off from what Mohit Suri had in mind. The director was leaning towards a tragic ending because the female lead’s character faces early-onset Alzheimer’s. Sankalp noted, “Given Mohit sir’s style, the AI’s idea made sense.”

But the final climax came to Sankalp during a traffic jam on his drive from Andheri to Bandra. “I was stuck in Juhu traffic, and suddenly, the ending just clicked,” he recalled.
This story shows how Saiyaara’s climax was shaped by creative struggle, a dash of AI humor, and a spark of inspiration. The writer’s openness about the process adds a fascinating layer to the film’s success.
