Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam is just one century away from making history in One Day Internationals.

The first ODI of the three-match series between Pakistan and West Indies will be played on Friday at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, and all eyes will be on the 30-year-old batting star.

Babar is closing in on legendary opener Saeed Anwar’s long-standing record for the most ODI centuries by a Pakistani batsman. Anwar scored 20 centuries in 247 matches and 244 innings.

In comparison, Babar has already scored 19 centuries in just 131 matches and 128 innings — an incredible strike rate for such a milestone. One more hundred will see him surpass Anwar and claim the record for himself.

  • Saeed Anwar – 20 centuries (247 matches)

  • Babar Azam – 19* centuries (131 matches)

  • Mohammad Yousuf – 15 centuries (281 matches)

  • Fakhar Zaman – 11 centuries (82 matches)

But that’s not the only milestone within Babar’s reach.

If he scores his 20th ODI century within the next four innings, he will also become the second-fastest player in history to achieve the feat.
Currently, Virat Kohli holds that spot with 133 innings, while South Africa’s Hashim Amla leads the list, reaching 20 centuries in just 108 innings.
