She emphasized that the current flood situation is not solely due to climate change but also due to challenges of 'misgovernance’, where rivers have not been given a proper path. According to the environmental expert, it is essential to clean rivers, streams, and drains before the monsoon season begins. The government must take pre-emptive action by ensuring the proper cleaning and protection of rivers, canals, and embankments ahead of the monsoon. Additionally, increasing tree plantation is crucial.

She stated that the government should prohibit the construction of housing societies and residential projects near riverbanks to prevent flood-related disasters. Furthermore, public awareness and early warning systems are among the most critical components in preparing citizens to deal with flood situations.

She emphasized that dams play a vital role in managing floods. However, building only large dams will not eliminate the risk of flooding. Instead, there is a need to construct small dams in various areas to store water effectively. Without such measures, the country will continue to face devastating floods every year.
