British Envoy Jane Marriott to Take Direct PIA Flight from Pakistan to Manchester

British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, has expressed her intention to fly directly from Pakistan to Manchester on a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight, praising the airline’s improved safety standards and service.

The announcement came after her recent domestic journey with PIA from Karachi to Islamabad. In a video message posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the envoy described the flight as “enjoyable” and welcomed the resumption of direct air travel between the UK and Pakistan.

“Come fly with me! I enjoyed my PIA flight from Karachi to Islamabad. The UK has lifted its air safety ban, a milestone reflecting the hard work of aviation experts in Pakistan and the UK to meet international safety standards,” she said in her message.

Her remarks follow the UK’s decision to lift a long-standing air safety ban on PIA, allowing the airline to resume direct flights to and from the United Kingdom. The lifting of the ban marks a significant achievement for Pakistan’s aviation industry, as it demonstrates progress in meeting international flight safety standards.

During her flight, Jane Marriott was invited to visit the cockpit, where she received a briefing on aviation protocols from the flight captain. As a gesture of goodwill, PIA’s CEO presented her with a captain’s cap and gave her the honorary title of “pilot.”

The British envoy applauded PIA’s efforts to regain its global standing and wished the airline success in its international operations.
