MQM Founder Altaf Hussain Hospitalised in London After Severe Heart Stress

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain has been hospitalised in a North London hospital after suffering multiple health complications, including severe heart stress in London, according to party officials.

Hussain, who has long battled emotional and physical health issues, was rushed to the hospital on Thursday following concerns over his deteriorating condition.

Senior MQM leader Mustafa Azizabadi confirmed that doctors decided to admit Altaf Hussain for thorough medical evaluation and treatment. “Various tests have been performed to assess his condition,” Azizabadi shared while speaking to the media.

According to Qasim Ali Raza, Deputy Convener of the MQM Central Coordination Committee, Hussain underwent a series of diagnostic procedures, including blood tests, ECG, CT scan, X-ray, and ultrasound. “He has been facing severe emotional stress for a long time,” Raza stated, adding that doctors recommended a blood transfusion, which was successfully carried out.

Sources close to the MQM founder said that the immediate concern arose from a foot injury that failed to heal—complicated further by his diabetes. As his condition worsened, Hussain reportedly began feeling severe heart stress in London, prompting his colleagues to act quickly and take him to the hospital.

This is not the first time Altaf Hussain’s health has raised alarms. In 2021, he was admitted to the intensive care unit of the same hospital after contracting Covid-19 twice in the same year. Despite these setbacks, he had managed to recover.

Currently, doctors have stabilised Hussain's condition, and he remains under observation as they monitor his response to treatment.

MQM leaders and supporters around the world have expressed concern for Hussain's health, closely monitoring updates from London. The party leadership has assured followers that he is receiving the best possible care and thanked well-wishers for their prayers.
