In a truly bizarre turn of events from Meerut, India, a young man found himself accidentally married to his fiancée’s 45-year-old widowed mother instead of the bride herself!
Mohammad Azeem lodged a complaint at the Brahmpuri police station, stating that his wedding was fixed with a woman named Muntasha from Shamli. The entire arrangement was made by Muntasha’s brother Nadeem and sister-in-law Shaista.
On the wedding day, during the nikah ceremony, the cleric announced the bride’s name as “Tahira.” Azeem assumed it was Muntasha’s other name. But when he finally saw the bride’s face after the ceremony, he was stunned — he had unknowingly married Tahira, Muntasha’s widowed mother.
Azeem also claimed that Rs. 500,000 had changed hands during the wedding arrangements. However, when he raised objections after discovering the truth, Muntasha’s family allegedly threatened to frame him in a fake rape case.
Though Azeem initially approached the police to take legal action, Brahmpuri Circle Officer Soumya Asthana later confirmed that the matter was settled mutually. Azeem withdrew his complaint, stating he no longer wished to pursue legal proceedings.
