In a nail-biting PSL 2025 encounter at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Lahore Qalandars (LQ) ruled the field with a dazzling 79-run win over Quetta Gladiators (QG) in Match 4 of the season.
The Qalandars showcased an explosive batting performance followed by a clinical bowling performance that left Quetta's chase in tatters.
Losing the toss, the Lahore Qalandars were requested to bat first. Even after losing opener Mohammad Naeem early on for 10, the team came back in style.
Fakhar Zaman was the highlight, hitting a blazing 67 off 39 balls with 7 fours and 3 sixes, keeping a strike rate of 171.79. He was ably supported by Abdullah Shafique (37) and Daryl Mitchell (37), and Sam Billings chipped in with important runs late in the innings. Lahore finished at a huge 219/6 in 20 overs, leaving a daunting target.
Quetta Gladiators' top order was thereafter shattered by pressure. Saud Shakeel and Hassan Nawaz got out cheaply, and even though there was a gallant 44 from 19 balls by Rilee Rossouw, the innings never gained momentum. Kusal Mendis contributed 28, while Faheem Ashraf (21) resisted down the order. The remaining batting line-up then crumbled, and the side got bowled out for 140 in 16.2 overs.
Lahore bowling attack was on fire as they were spearheaded by Rishad Hossain (3/31) and Sikandar Raza (2/12), whose economical spell caused a mid-innings collapse. Shaheen Afridi and Asif Afridi shared two wickets apiece, while Haris Rauf added one.
The game, which was held at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, had a massive crowd of fans who were treated to fireworks both with bat and ball. With this victory, Lahore Qalandars not only pick up crucial points on the Pakistan Super League Points Table but also level the head-to-head tally with Quetta Gladiators, standing at 9 wins each in 18 matches.
