In the 4th match of Pakistan Super League 2025, Lahore Qalandars delivered a batting masterclass against Quetta Gladiators at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday.
After being asked to bat first, LQ responded with a powerful total of 219/6, putting pressure on QG right from the start.
The innings began with an early hiccup for Qalandars as opener Mohammad Naeem was bowled for just 10 by Abrar Ahmed, leaving the team at 17/1 in 2.3 overs. But Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique shifted gears quickly, stitching together a fiery 56-run partnership. Abdullah smashed 37 off just 21 balls before falling to Akeal Hosein, but Fakhar Zaman held one end firmly, playing some exquisite strokes.
Fakhar Zaman reached his 20th PSL fifty, scoring a brilliant 67 off 39 balls, laced with 7 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 171.79. He found solid support in Daryl Mitchell, who scored a calm 37 and added 80 runs with Fakhar, lifting LQ past 150 in 14.5 overs.
Abrar Ahmed returned to remove Mitchell, and Fakhar followed soon after, caught by Faheem Ashraf off Akeal Hosein. However, the late onslaught came from Sam Billings, who smashed an unbeaten 50 off just 19 balls, including some breathtaking shots that powered Qalandars beyond 200.
Although captain Shaheen Afridi fell for 7 in the final over, the Qalandars’ innings had already done the damage. For QG, Abrar Ahmed and Akeal Hosein picked two wickets apiece, while Faheem Ashraf and Usman Tariq grabbed one each.
