The wait is finally over as the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) gets underway with a vibrant opening ceremony lined up at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The eagerly awaited event started at 7 PM, with a night of energy, glamour, and cricketing thrill awaiting.

rnThe celebrations mesmerised fans with chart-topping performances of top artists such as Abida Parveen, Ali Zafar, Abrar-ul-Haq, Natasha Baig, Talha Anjum, and the Young Stunners. A spectacular fireworks show lights up the sky, signalling the official start of the tournament.

Later, Talha Anjum and Talha Younis brought the magic of rap to the venue while the musical ensemble Young Stunners delighted the crowd with their outstanding performance. Following Young Stunners' performance, an amazing fireworks show was presented.

Ali Zafar performed the PSL 2025 Anthem titled 'X Dekho' alongside Ali Zafar, Natasha Baig, Talha Anjum & Abrar-ul-Haq. The stars perform the theme song as well as unveil the PSL 2025 trophy along with fireworks.

Following Young Stunners' performance, legendary Ali Zafar showed out on stage in a vehicle. The crowd gave him great appreciation when he sang in his native tongue. Once again, during his performance was a breathtaking fireworks show.

With a big crowd expected, tight security has been put in place to ensure everything runs smoothly. That said, the sweltering weather could add another layer of difficulty for players and spectators alike as the league progresses.

rnThe action on the pitch begins tonight at 8:30 PM, right after the opening ceremony, as Islamabad United, the defending champs, face off against Lahore Qalandars, the two-time titleholders. It’s a classic matchup to launch the season with intensity.


rnLooking ahead, the Qualifier is set for May 13 in Rawalpindi, followed by the First Eliminator in Lahore on May 14 and the Second Eliminator on May 16, also in Lahore. The grand finale will light up Gaddafi Stadium on May 18.

rnUntil now, Islamabad United has taken the PSL title three times — in 2016, 2018, and 2024, while Lahore Qalandars have won it twice, in 2022 and 2023. The other previous winners are Peshawar Zalmi (2017), Quetta Gladiators (2019), Karachi Kings (2020), and Multan Sultans (2021).
