The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday announced the prize money for the forthcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will start on April 11.

Following the conclusion of 34 thrilling matches, the champion of the historic event will not only raise the Luminara Trophy but will also take home prize money of USD 500,000, while the runners-up will be handed a check for USD 200,000.

"The six teams will also be battling each other to win the USD 500,000 prize money for the victors, while the runners-up team will receive USD 200,000," the cricket board stated in a release.

The eagerly awaited 10th season of the PSL will begin with a resplendent opening ceremony, arranged before the start of the curtain-raiser match between reigning champions Islamabad United and two-time winners Lahore Qalandars.

The six-team tournament will feature a total of 34 matches from April 11 to May 18. Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches, including the two Eliminators and the grand final.

Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium will host 11 matches, including the first Qualifier on May 13, while Karachi’s National Bank Stadium and Multan Cricket Stadium will each host five matches.

The tournament will also feature three doubleheaders, two on Saturdays and one on Labour Day (May 1).

Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi will again be the skippers of Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Multan Sultans, and Lahore Qalandars, respectively, with Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators having new captains—David Warner and Saud Shakeel, respectively.
