Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan is pinning hopes on the experience and all-round expertise of Imad Wasim to once again sparkle when the eagerly anticipated Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 begins on Friday.
With Islamabad United looking to retain the title, Shadab has put his faith in Imad, expecting him to channel the same kind of form that saw United win the title the last time around.
In the last season, Imad Wasim was a vital cog in United's title run. He scored 126 runs in nine matches, with the highest score being 59 not out, and impressed with the ball by taking 12 wickets at a rate of 20.91. In the final match against Multan Sultans, he delivered a remarkable five-wicket haul, which earned him the Player of the Match award.
Imad's contribution was not only in the final but also in both eliminator games against Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi, where he was again Player of the Match for his all-round heroics.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, Shadab praised Imad’s experience and ability to perform under pressure. “He is an experienced player and a talented all-rounder,” said Shadab in an interview with a local cricket website. “But cricket is a team game. While Imad was outstanding in the final few matches, it was a team effort overall. Still, we’re glad he’s in form and hope he continues that momentum this season too.”
Islamabad United, three-time PSL champions, will face off against Lahore Qalandars in the opening match of PSL 10 on April 11 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
